Our Story
What started with Mikayla tutoring in her apartment conference room has grown into a bilingual tutoring service providing 1:1 or group sessions for families across the DMV and NYC.

KTS has provided services to more than 100 families throughout the past 10 years. More recently, with the COVID-19 pandemic, our service has become more urgent in closing the gaps seen across all subjects.

KTS is focused on ensuring all students gain access to a quality education. However your student needs to learn, KTS will find a way to make it happen.
Meet the founder
Mikayla Lawrence
Mikayla (Kayla) grew up in Arlington, VA and attended immersion schools the majority of her life. After receiving an award from the Spanish embassy in 8th grade for her fluency level, Mikayla turned paths and joined the Internal Baccalaureate program (IB) in her neighborhood high school. While there, Mikayla continued her love of Spanish in the her IB Spanish classes all 4 years.

In her junior year of the IB program, Mikayla decided to use tutoring as part of her community service requirement. What started with tutoring 3 students in her apartment club room, turned into a service closing gaps and advancing students 1 session at a time.
​
Mikayla took her love for education into the classroom and began teaching special education in NYC. 5 years later, Mikayla has taught both elementary and middle school special education courses, led her grade teams and coached general education teachers on how to better differentiate their lessons.

St. John's University B.A Speech Language Pathology & Audiology and Spanish
Relay Graduate School of Education MA, Dual Certification- Childhood Education K-6 and Special Education
Currently pursuing Doctorate of Audiology c/o 2028
